What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

I decided that I wanted to be a doctor when I was 10 because I wanted to help people. I can't remember wanting to do anything else. I have over 30 years of experience as a doctor, specialising in Anaesthetics and later transitioning into Aviation Medicine. My 24 years in the NHS honed my skills and resilience. As a Consultant Anaesthetist and trainer for 14 years, I developed a passion for mentoring and nurturing talent. I love my portfolio career.

What excites you most about joining our team?

I am looking forward to working with a great team of people and to being part of an organisation that will make a real difference to colleagues, patients, and the independent healthcare sector.

What is one key lesson you've learned in your career so far that you’d like to bring to your new role?

One key lesson I've learned is the importance of self-care. As healthcare professionals, we often prioritise the needs of others, but it's crucial to remember that our own well-being is essential for both our personal and professional success.

What’s a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

I had my first mid-life epiphany at the age of 40 and decided to train as a private pilot. I learnt a lot about myself and what I could change. I also love my Peloton spin bike and my favourite instructor is Cody Rigsby!

Do you have a hobby that helps you recharge outside of work?

My happy place is walking in the countryside with my husband and dog. I like to be creative, when I have the time, and I have an embarrassingly large stash of craft supplies.
