IDF June Appraiser Update Training

On Wednesday 12^th June 2024 the IDF held the first of three 2024/2025 Appraiser Update Training days and this was attended by 17 appraisers. The first part was an interactive workshop  by the GMC Outreach team. This used a variety of methods from case-based discussion to group exercises to explore the application of the GMC professional standards in day-to-day practice. The appraisers explored themes of prescribing, social media and maintaining professional boundaries and they also considered evolving expectations since the launch of the new Good Medical Practice (GMP) standards.  The second part was an update by the IDF Responsible Officer on the IDF’s Appraisal processes, Designated Body statistics and sharing of good practice. It also included workshops on interpreting indemnity documentation and formal patient and colleague feedback. In addition there were case based discussions and the opportunity to use the IDF’s quality assurance tool for appraisal summaries.
