New IDF Committee chairs

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Andy Roche as the new chair of the Specialist Committee.

Andy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and has been practising there for over 10 years. Alongside this, Andy is also a private orthopaedic surgeon at the Fortius Clinic, a part of the Affidea group. Andy's surgical practice spans trauma, sports, and elective conditions, with a primary interest in sports injuries. He serves as the clinical director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and is part of the clinical advisory group at the Fortius clinic.

Andy is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), British Medical Association (BMA), and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). Andy is actively involved in supporting private doctors, helping them gain independence and the freedom to continue treating insured patients within reasonable frameworks. He emphasises the importance of delivering high-quality healthcare while providing patients with the freedom to choose. Andy maintains interest and activity in research and publications, lecturing at home and abroad, and teaching doctors and professions allied to medicine on a regular basis.  He enjoys trying his hand at many sports and activities but mostly these days golf, pilates, mountain biking and when possible, windsurfing!
