We invite you to join the IDF Study Weekend in stunning Malta, sponsored by Mayo Clinic Healthcare, from Friday 27th – Sunday 29th September.

Destination

The weekend will be based at the exclusive Corinthia Palace, which is located in the heart of the island of Malta, adjacent to the Presidential Palace and public San Anton botanical gardens, the 147-room five-star hotel exudes authentic grace and classical charm. Just 20 minutes from Malta International Airport.

Malta is a popular tourist destination and known for its warm climate and breathtaking landscapes that serve as locations for major film productions. The archipelago is home to some of the oldest temples in the world, such as the Megalithic Temples of Malta. The medieval capital Valletta is the site of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Barrakka Gardens.

Education

We will hold educational talks during Saturday and Sunday morning, from a variety of members across a range of specialities. As well as some fun group activities and discussions. The full educational programme will be released nearer the date. Should you be interested in presenting a talk, please keep an eye out for our call for speakers.

Guest speaker: Professor Catherine Rider, Associate Professor in Medieval History

Prof Catherine Rider is interested in the religious and cultural history of Europe in the late Middle Ages. Her research has focused particularly on the history of magic and the church's attitude to magic.  This includes two books, Magic and Religion in Medieval England (2012) and Magic and Impotence in the Middle Ages (2006). Recently she has also co-edited, with Sophie Page, the Routledge History of Medieval Magic (2019). Find out more about Prof Catherine Rider here.

Cost

£1000 per person

Please be advised that if you are travelling with a partner and only require one bedroom, your guest will be charged at £900. 

Should your guest require their own bedroom the price of £1000 still applies.
